Things needed to use the UBA USSD code

To use the USSD banking of the United Bank of Africa, you will need

  • The Sim card you used while opening your bank account
  • A mobile phone (even without mobile data connections).

There are a couple of things you can do using it and I will guide you through the steps below

To purchase airtime for yourself using the USSD banking, simply dial *919# and answer 2. After which you would be asked for the amount of airtime you want to buy.

To purchase airtime for your family or friends, also dial *919# and then answer 3. You will be asked for the destination phone number and the amount of airtime you want to purchase. Sometimes you may be asked for the network of the destination sim card such as (glo, mtn, Airtel or 9mobile)

To transfer money to another account which is owned by the United Bank of Africa (UBA), dial *919# and then answer 4. You will be asked for the account number of the destination bank and the amount of money you wish to transfer. Before the transaction is finally processed, you would be shown the full name of the account owner to confirm.

To transfer money to another bank account in a other bank other from the United Bank of Africa, dial *919# and then answer 5. You would be required to fill in the destination account number as well as the amount of money you wish to transfer.

You would also be asked the name of the destination bank and finally you would be shown the full name of the account owner to validate.

To check your current account balance, simply dial *919# and then answer 6. You would only be asked for your pin and your account balance would be displayed.
